A Complete Guide for Twisted Road Riders

SIGNING UP

  • Before you rent with Twisted Road, you need to create an account
  • We run all guests through the approval process when they book a motorcycle for rent to keep our platform safe for both hosts and guests.
  • Expect verification 2-3 hours. Sometimes it is instantaneous, but often it could take longer.
  • We take the safety and security of our community very seriously. And, we want to make sure that we have the best riders and owners on our platform. This means, it may take longer for some users to get verified.
  • Owners won't be notified of a rental request until you've been approved to ride.
  • If you’ve been denied, we may ask for more information.
  • After you get approved to ride, you’re ready to find a motorcycle that meets your needs.

CHOOSING A MOTORCYCLE

  • Choose your location and search for a motorcycle to rent. You can adjust the trip dates and times to suit your plans.
  • You can filter by style of motorcycle, brand, price, and model year. For example, if you only want to rent a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and you prefer newer bikes, you can filter for recent model year Harleys to ride.
  • Once you find the perfect motorcycle, you’re ready to book.

BOOKING A TRIP

Once you select a motorcycle, you’ll see its full listing. Here, you can add the details of your trip and check out. On the listing page, you’ll see:

Detailed information on the motorcycle

  • Each bike has information on seat height, fuel, distance until empty, wet weight, and power.
  • Don't ever ride a motorcycle that doesn't feel right to you.
  • If you're questioning whether a motorcycle is too fast, too heavy, or too powerful, find a different bike.

Trip dates

  • Choose your trip’s start and end. Your trip’s cost is based on the trip length and other factors. Changing the start and end time might change the overall cost of your trip.
  • You can only book one motorcycle at a time. If you have already submitted a request for a set of dates, you can’t book a new trip that overlaps with any of those dates.

Pick up & return location

  • Rides start and end at a location convenient to the owner.
  • The approximate location of each motorcycle is shown on the detail page.
  • After the rental is approved, the rider and owner can adjust pickup/return locations as needed.

Discounts

  • Referral discounts, free days, and riding credits will be shown at checkout.
  • You will have the option of using these credits, or saving them for a future date.

Cancellation policy

  • All motorcycle rentals can be cancelled in accordance to our cancellation policy.
  • We offer a full refund in Twisted Road credits for a future ride, or a refund to your credit card.
  • Same-day cancellations are charged 50 in addition to the above.
  • Please familiarize yourself with this policy before renting.

Distance included

  • Almost all motorcycle rentals come with unlimited miles.
  • Some owners may have limitations on mileage - if so, they will disclose this in the description.

Owner

  • We work to make sure the best owners and motorcycles are available.
  • We’ll show you the details about your owner so you can get to know them. You can also select their profile to get even more information.

Checkout

  • We won’t charge you just yet.
  • This page gives you the full breakdown of the trip details and price.
  • You’ll be able to add Roadside Assistance, Tire Protection, select a protection plan, and enter promo codes.
  • To submit your request, just write a message to the host and select the Gold Button. when the owner approves, you'll be charged for the trip.
  • We also require a $100 to $1000 credit card deposit before the ride begins. This deposit is automatically applied the day before the ride, and is cancelled upon return of the motorcycle. This hold may be increased for riders under the age of 25.

Booking status

  • The motorcycle owner will have up to 24 hours to approve or decline your request. Once the owner approves, your trip is booked. We’ll notify you of a booked trip by email and/or text message. You can see your booked trips in “My Trips” under the Dashboard.
  • If your host doesn’t respond or declines your trip request, we’ll help you rebook quickly with a similar motorcycle from a different owner. If we can’t find a replacement you’re happy with or if you decide not to rebook, you won't be charged.

Before the trip

  • Once you’ve booked your trip, you’ll be able to select your trip to view all of the details and documents.
  • At this point, you'll have access to the owner's phone number and the address of the motorcycle.

PICKING UP THE MOTORCYCLE

  • Bring your permanent driver’s license when you come to pick up the motorcycle.
  • Once you and the owner meet, he/she will take pictures of the motorcycle from all angles, and he/she will also ask to see your driver's license. You won't get the keys if you can't show a license that matches the one in the booking.
  • You’re responsible for returning the motorcycle in the same condition in which you received it. Photos of the bike are the only way to document its condition.

Issues at check-in

  • If the motorcycle seems unsafe, or something doesn’t seem right, please report it to Twisted Road and the owner before you take possession of the motorcycle!
  • If you’re running late because of a flight delay or an emergency, let the owner know and request a trip change.
  • If at any time, your host cancels your trip, we’ll notify you so you can book a new motorcycle.
  • If you and the owner can’t come to an agreement, we can help you cancel your trip and find a new ride.

DURING YOUR TRIP

RETURNING THE MOTORCYCLE

  • If you need to keep the motorcycle for longer than planned, submit a trip modification request.
  • Similarly, if you want to return the bike early, you must request a trip modification. Owners must approve any changes to a trip with Twisted Road in order for changes to be valid. You may be charged for any additional usage if you bring the motorcycle back later than the scheduled return time.
  • Replace the fuel. The motorcycle must be returned with the same level of fuel and in the same condition as when the trip started.
  • Check the bike for damage. If you don’t take pictures, you may be held liable for damage reported by the owner. Things can happen between trips, so it’s important we have details about how you left the bike. If there’s a reimbursement dispute, you’ll need photos as proof.

AFTER THE TRIP

  • You’ll be able to leave a review about your host and the motorcycle, and the owner will also be able to review you as a rider.
  • Security deposits will be released 48 hours after the trip ends. You should see the funds back in your account at least 3–5 business days after that.
  • You may be asked to reimburse the host for an incidental cost from the trip.
  • If you dispute a reimbursement request or a damage claim, we’ll ask you to provide supporting documentation. This most likely includes photos of the motorcycle at the end of the trip. We’ll review all documentation to make a determination.
  • If you or your host has reported damage, a member of our Claims team will contact you.

If at any time you’re unsure what to do or simply need help, you can contact us. We’re happy to answer your questions. We recommend you browse through the rest of the Help Center and look over our Terms of Service and Policies before you start your trip.
